Surply is an Australian business-to-business marketplace for surplus manufacturing materials. Verified Australian manufacturers list surplus ingredients, raw materials, packaging, chemicals and components, with the original manufacturer, batch or lot number, Certificate of Analysis, Safety Data Sheet, expiry or retest date and storage conditions attached to the listing.
It exists because one of us kept accumulating exactly that material and had nowhere sensible to sell it. The full account is in why we built Surply.
Co-founder
Will co-founded Surply. He is also managing director of Imaginelle, a skincare and cosmetics contract manufacturer in Newcastle, New South Wales, which he co-founded in 2016 and which manufactures for Australian beauty brands from a facility certified to GMP ISO 22716.
Surply started as Imaginelle's own problem: good, fully documented surplus raw material with nowhere sensible to sell it. Will writes the material on this site about documentation, provenance and how surplus actually moves, because he has spent a decade on the selling side of it.
Technical co-founder
Noel co-founded Surply and builds it. That covers the marketplace itself, the verification and membership system, the document handling that keeps a Certificate of Analysis attached to the batch it belongs to, and the publication rules that withhold a document rather than show the wrong one.
